DAY 1: Cusco – Mollepata – Soraypampa

You leave Cusco at 5 a.m. in a private vehicle along the River Apurimac. On the way to the village Mollepata (where the Salakantay-trekking starts) you can see beautiful small villages like Izcuchaca and Limatambo. About 9 a.m. you will arrive at the village Mollepata (nearly 3000 meters). After loading your baggage on the mules the Salkantay-adventure can begin. The first part of the trekking leads you to Cruz Pata. After the lunch and a short pause the tour to Soraypampa continues. At 5:30 p.m. the group arrives at Soraypampa – your first base camp. After having dinner you spend your first night in the tent.

Hiking time: about 7-8 hours

DAY 2: Soraypampa – Chaullay

The second day of the Salkantay-trekking is nealry the hardest one. The walk begins at 7 a.m. First you will pass the village of Pampa Salkantay. On the left side you can see the Nevado Umantay and the awesome Apu Salkantay – the Holy Mountain. About 11-12 a.m. you reach the highest point of the trekking – the Salkantay pass Humantay on nearly 4500 meters. There you have a impressive view on the landscape with its andean peaks and the snow-capped peaks and glaciers of the Salkantay. The Apu Salkantay is the second highest peak in the area of Cusco with 6260 meters of altitude.

The lunch will take place in the field Huayrac Pampa. After lunch the descent to Chaullay begins. During the descent you come through subtropical forest, where there is bamboo, ferns, palm trees, a large variety of bromeliads and orchids. At 2800 meters of altitude you will sepnd your second night.

 Hinking time: 8-9 hours

DAY 3: Chaullay – La Playa (Sawayaco) – Santa Teresa

Today you will keep on walking through the cloud forest, where there is a large variety of
Orchids (optional thermal baths of Colpapampa).
You will walk through the camp Colpapamba. Here is the zone of the Cloud Forest (Selva
Nubosa). On the way you’ll see waterfalls, fruit trees and countless flowers.
After arriving in the area of
​​La Playa Sawayaco you will have lunch.
Ride in a private vehicle to Santa Teresa (1900 meters). There is also your last night in tents.

Hiking time: 5-6 hours

DAY 4: Santa Teresa – Hidroelectrica – Aguas Calientes

After breakfast the hike to the hydroelectric power plant begins, where you
have lunch. In the afternoon we continue by train to the village of Aguas Calientes in a hotel where you stay (included in the itinerary). Who appeals to the spa, you can relax there.

 Hiking time: 3-4 hours

DAY 5: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

On this last day of your trek you take the first bus to Machu Picchu, where a guide is waiting for you or the group. The guide explains the importance and significance of this special place (2 hours). Then you are able to explore Machu Piccu on your own.
After viewing the lost city of the Incas you will leave this mystic place and say goodbye.
Now you will take the bus to Aguas Calientes around 30 minutes before departure at the train station. 4 hour train ride to Cusco-Poroy and transfer to accommodation, where you
expected to arrive at 22:00 clock.
